Review by Adam Fuentes

A Message From Monk, the latest album from jazz bassist Larry Gales, is a tribute to the legendary pianist Thelonious Monk. The album features Gales' interpretations of some of Monk's most iconic compositions, including "Straight, No Chaser," "Blue Monk," and "Round Midnight."

Gales' bass playing is impeccable throughout the album, providing a solid foundation for the rest of the band. His skillful use of space and dynamics allows the other musicians to shine, while still maintaining the groove and flow of the music.

The album also features some impressive solo work from saxophonist Charles McPherson, who captures the spirit of Monk's music with his fluid, melodic lines. Pianist Cedar Walton and drummer Billy Higgins round out the quartet, providing a tight, cohesive sound that perfectly complements Gales' bass playing.
